MEASURING FOR PENCIL PLEATED CURTAINS
Pencil Pleat is by far the most popular style of heading for childrens curtains. They are made with a 3″ multi pocket tape so the position of the curtain drop can be adjusted. This heading style can be fitted to either a track or pole. Simply measure the length of your track or pole and then your desired drop. If fitting to a pole they will normally hang underneath but if fitting to a track then they can be hung to cover the track.
MEASURING FOR EYELET CURTAINS
Childrens eyelet curtains are very modern, versatile and strong but can only be used on a curtain pole. They glide extremely easily along the pole and stack back neatly so as not to obscure the window. There must be a 5cm clearance above the top of the pole to allow the curtains to pull freely. Measure from the top of the pole to your finished length, we will then add 2cm above the eyelet (this is called the upstand), this will not affect your desired drop. The Eyelets have a 40mm internal measurement and come in 4 different colours : Satin Silver/ Chrome/ Brass/ Black . We can advise you which colour to choose
MEASURING FOR PINCH PLEAT CURTAINS
The Pinch Pleat heading is a very traditional style of heading sometimes known as Triple Pleat or French Pleat, these can also be changed to a double pleat if that is preferred. These childrens curtains would be made to fit your window exactly and would come ready hooked with metal pins. Measure the length of your track or pole for the width, then if you have a pole measure from the bottom of the large ring to your desired length or if you have a track you can choose to either measure from the top of the track or from the hook below. This type of curtain is usually hung from a pole but can be used with a track if necessary. Pinch Pleat curtains are the most expensive type of curtains as you need to use more Fabric.
MEASURING FOR TAB TOP CURTAINS
Our childrens tab top curtains are hung using loops attached to the top of the curtain. The disadvantage with this heading is the stack back, the window can be obscured when the curtains are pulled back. For the width measure the length of the pole and for the drop measure from the top of the pole to your desired length. This style of heading can only be used on a pole.
We make straight or shaped valances for pencil pleat curtains only. Valances are usually 1/6th of the overall drop of the curtain. However it could be slightly longer or shorter according to your preference. We would need to know if it is going to hang on a valance track or on a wooden board.
Childrens Roman blinds can be made to fit inside the recess or outside the recess of the window. Blinds made inside the recess can be used with curtains as well. Blinds made outside the recess are used instead of curtains. First decide where you want your blind to be positioned. All our Roman Blinds come fitted on a premium chain operated track, unless a wooden baton is specifically requested. Continuous chain tracks are considered to be safer for Childrens rooms as there are no cords to get tangled up in. The chains are available in three colourways, white, chrome and brass. The tracks are 3.5cm deep and come with universal fixings which can be face or top fixed. The drop of the Blind when pulled up is approximately 20cm- 25cm
MEASURING INSIDE THE RECESS
Measure with a steel tape from the top of the recess to the bottom in three different places: left hand side, middle, and right hand side, these measurements may vary slightly. Use the smallest of these measurements as your drop measurement. For the width measure across the recess at three different points. Once again use the smallest measurement. We will then take off 0.5cm from the width to prevent the Blind from rubbing against the wall. You can choose which side you want the Blind to pull
MEASURING OUTSIDE THE RECESS (KNOWN AS BLIND SIZE)
Decide where you want the blind to sit outside the window, and measure from this point across the width, making sure you have an equal distance each side of your window. Then measure from the top, where you want the blind to start to where you want the blind to be lowered to. This is the measurement of the finished drop. If you have protruding window sills, do bear this in mind. We make up the blind from these measurements, known as blind size.
CUSHIONS AND TIEBACKS
We can make cushions and tiebacks to match your childrens curtains or blinds. Cushions come in two sizes 40 or 45cm with a choice of a polyester or feather filled pad. You can have them plain or with a piped finish in a fabric of your choice.Tiebacks are crescent shaped in the right size to fit your curtains.
We can make Duvet covers and Throws to match or co-ordinate with your Curtains or Blinds. A standard pillow case would measure 70cm x 50cm, the duvet cover or throw can be any size you wish. The Fabric can be washed on a cool wash but should not be tumble dried.
